Job summary

SUNY Sullivan is seeking to fill the position of Mathematics Adjunct for the Fall 2026 semester. The incumbent will provide seated and/or online instruction for the following courses: Elementary Statistics (online), Intermediate Algebra (seated), and Applied Contemporary Math (online).

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and a culture of belonging.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mathematics or related field preferred; or Bachelor's degree in Mathematics plus 6 years of experience.
• Teaching experience, preferably in the community college setting.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to and effectively learn new technologies (learning management systems, online tools, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 14 contact hours of general mathematics courses, and additional courses as needed.
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching and interact with a diverse student and employee population.
• Maintain reliable, student-accessible office hours.
• Advise and mentor students, develop curricula, recruit students, and attend division and faculty meetings.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to adapt to and effectively learn new technologies (learning management systems, online tools, etc.)
• Familiarity with a breadth and depth of technologies, as applied to specific classes

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach up to 14 contact hours of general mathematics courses, as well as potential additional courses related to the applicant's area of professional expertise
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching and possess the ability to effectively interact with a diverse student and employee population
• Hold reliable, student-accessible office hours
• Take part as needed in advising and mentoring students, developing curricula, recruiting students, and attending division and faculty meetings

Salary:

Salary is determined by a candidate's rank at SUNY Sullivan, based on teaching experience, education, etc. The full salary range is $655 to $740 per contact hour/course credit per semester.
