Job Description

The Adjunct – Mathematics/Statistics position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with major emphasis on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The role includes monitoring teaching/learning effectiveness, maintaining curriculum rigor, and ensuring quality instruction as directed by department leadership.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses as scheduled, overseeing curriculum in line with department policy.
• Consider student differences to design and support appropriate learning activities.
• Identify students with academic or other needs and refer to appropriate resources.
• Use technology effectively and communicate expectations about technology use.
• Keep accurate records, maintain attendance, determine and submit grades timely, and provide feedback.
• Maintain syllabi that incorporate required requirements.
• Conduct classes punctually and use appropriate assessment techniques.
• Participate in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chair about teaching duties and professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematical Sciences; one year of teaching experience in the discipline, or equivalent graduate-level coursework and teaching experience.
• Preferred: Master’s or Ph.D. concentration in Mathematics or Statistics; two years of college teaching in Mathematics/Statistics; at least one relevant course taught.

Additional Information

• State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to obtain access to work sites.
• Initially taught in person; online modality possible after successful in‑person teaching.

Compensation

Compensation: $55.88 per contact hour. Contact hour: 2 hours equals one contact hour. Maximum of 12 contact hours per week. Full‑time/part‑time: Part time.
