Job description

Akkodis is seeking a Exterior Trim Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Novi, MI. Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the Automotive Domain.

Rate Range: $48/hour to $70/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job responsibilities include:

• 5+ years of experience in vehicle exterior trim Class A components and/or trim mechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments. Including all three phases of product development (Design, Test and Launch).
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or relevant engineering field.
• Demonstrated experience in solving complex technical challenges in product design and development.
• Computer aided design (CAD) tools, including CATIA V5/V6 experience is highly recommended.
• Product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, including Teamcenter experience is highly recommended.

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), material selection, and design for manufacturing (DFM).
• Hands‑on experience in automotive product launch, including prototype builds and production ramp‑up.
• Familiarity with design and engineering considerations for high‑volume automotive production.
• Ability to work collaboratively within cross‑functional teams, including suppliers, design studios, and vehicle engineering teams.
