Job summary

ALTEN Mexico is seeking a Plastics Engineer to support evaluation and implementation of exterior components and manufacturing technologies, focusing on lightweight Class-A concepts such as fascias, body panels, and claddings. Expertise in polymeric and composite materials, design-for-manufacturing, thermal performance and aero-acoustics is required.

The role will be based near Toluca or CDMX with travel as needed, leading feasibility reviews, coordinating multi‑disciplinary analyses, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Polymer, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years automotive exterior, plastics, or composites experience.
Experience with exterior polymers, injection or compression molding, and Class‑A components.
Knowledge of tooling feasibility, painting, bonding, fastening, GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance analysis, and CAD review.

Responsibilities

Evaluate exterior concepts based on performance, appearance, mass, cost, and manufacturability.
Lead Class‑A feasibility reviews addressing surface quality, gloss, and draft.
Review CAD sections, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and interfaces; support DtM/DFoA reviews.
Coordinate thermal, aero, structural, CFD, and mold‑flow analyses; support prototyping and tooling trials.
Develop technology comparisons and recommendations on cost, mass, and timing.
