Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an experienced Lighting Engineer to join the Exterior Lighting Team within the Exterior Engineering Design Department.

You will design and release exterior and interior lamps for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis NA vehicles, collaborating with suppliers and styling engineers to move concepts to mass production. The role emphasizes cost-effective, high-quality lighting solutions, BOM ownership, and mentoring junior engineers, with travel up to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering-related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience in developing exterior and/or interior lighting components.
• Proficiency with CAD software (CATIA V6, NX, SolidWorks).
• Knowledge of U.S. automotive lighting regulations (FMVSS 108).
• Understanding of ECE/CMVSS regulations is beneficial.
• Familiarity with IIHS headlamp testing/aiming is a plus.
• Knowledge of lamp design, manufacturing, and assembly processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and release exterior and interior lamps for production vehicles (Hyundai, Kia, Genesis).
• Develop innovative solutions to improve lighting on cost, performance, and quality terms.
• Support parts development from styling concept to mass production; collaborate with suppliers and design teams.
• Lead proto/pilot-build issue resolution and BOM release for parts.
• Mentor junior engineers and present technical reports on project status.
