Midland County 4-H Youth Development Program is seeking a Program Assistant to support the 4-H Coordinator and Extension Agents in delivering youth education programs across Midland County. The role includes training teachers, coordinating clubs and projects, and expanding volunteer engagement in livestock, health, leadership, summer camps, and community events.
The position involves maintaining program data, evaluating impact, and collaborating with schools and communities.

The Midland County 4-H Program Assistant works under the supervision of the Midland County 4-H Coordinator and assists County Extension Agents with 4-H responsibilities within the Midland County youth programs provided through the Midland County AgriLife Extension Office. The 4-H Youth Development Program Assistance will assist in management of outreach education to non 4-H youth as well as the 4-H clubs and projects. This position will train and assist teachers with classroom curriculum, evaluating the impact of the program with school age youth in Midland County. They will also support the 4-H program including but not limited to livestock programs, family & community health programs, leadership programs, summer camps, fund raisers, and community events. This position also includes maintaining and expanding an existing volunteer base, building community partnerships, and managing and expanding revenues including grant writing. The employee works in conjunction with the 4-H Youth Development Coordinator and County Extension Agents with 4-H responsibilities within Midland County Youth Development programs.

Must be insurable by agency insurance carrier, have valid Texas driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, and have adequate transportation. Must be able to receive a Texas Notary Commission and be an enrolled Texas 4-H Adult Volunteer within the 30 days of starting the position.
Position involves sitting at a desk or other workstation, typing, filing, making copies, standing and communicating to other county personnel, elected officials, external agencies and the general public. Occasionally required to lift up to 30 lbs. Willingness to handle and work with live organisms (insects, chicks, plants, livestock).
The position includes working in a well-equipped air-conditioned office, as well as outdoors in school gardens, livestock barns, and other educational settings. Must be willing to accommodate a flexible schedule as needed for programs and travel to trainings and 4-H related contests.
