Job summary

University of Minnesota Extension seeks an Extension Educator for 4-H Youth Development in Traverse County (Wheaton, MN). This 100% FTE position links UMN research with Minnesota residents by creating learning opportunities addressing local needs.

The educator will lead county 4-H youth programming, collaborate with volunteers and partners, and ensure inclusive access to programs, services, and facilities while advancing two main goals: youth development and youth leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree at time of hire in fields related to education, social sciences, family and consumer sciences, sociology, psychology, and agriculture. Degree must be completed by the start date.
• Experience (paid or unpaid) leading, teaching, and/or managing programs for youth, grades K-12.
• Ability to work collaboratively and cohesively with peers, leaders and leadership, stakeholders, volunteers, participants and others, to achieve Extension goals, objectives and expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to document, track and follow financial policies, processes and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, priorities and schedules while maintaining high quality of work.

Responsibilities

• Program Development, Delivery, and Engagement: lead, design, and manage 4-H youth programming across a county.
• Plan and manage clubs, camps, after-school programs, fairs and events.
• Develop partnerships and recruit volunteers to support program delivery.
• Oversee budgeting, enrollment, and reporting for the county 4-H program.
• Communicate program value and outcomes to local stakeholders.
