Primary Function

North Carolina Cooperative Extension provides access to resources and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. The individual will provide leadership for the total 4-H youth program and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for youth ages 5–19, program staff, and volunteers.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate 4-H programs for youth ages 5–19 through clubs, school enrichment, summer programs, and after-school programs.
  • Recruit, evaluate, train, and coordinate adult and teen volunteers.
  • Supervise the overall 4-H program, establish and maintain clubs within Richmond County, and manage special programs such as Empowering Youth and Families (EYFP).
  • Secure sponsorships, grants, and other funding sources to support activities and programs.
  • Ensure program accessibility to youth across the county and maintain grant-funded programs.
Other Work/Responsibilities

Volunteer recruitment and development experience and program development skills are important.

Experience in grant writing and management is preferred.

Qualifications

One of the following educational requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 overall or a 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale) in child or youth development or a related field (minimum GPA waived for NCCE Program Associates with a Bachelor’s degree).
  • A Bachelor’s degree and completion of at least one half of a Master’s degree curriculum with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Completion of a Master’s degree with at least one degree in child or youth development or a related field.

Experience working with various audiences and demonstrated leadership, communication, grantsmanship, public relations, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills. Self-directed with a strong work ethic.

Preferred: Knowledge of developmental needs of children ages 5–19.

Valid Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation required. North Carolina driver’s license must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with evenings and weekends as required. Total 40 Hours Per Week.

Salary Range

Minimum Bachelor's: $40,000; Minimum Master's: $45,000; Minimum Doctorate: $50,000, commensurate with experience.
