Job Location: Charlotte Campus – Charlotte, NC 28277

Charlotte Latin School is seeking caring, energetic, and dependable on‑call Substitute Teachers for our Extended Day Program during the 2025–2026 school year. Substitute teachers will support, lead, and supervise a variety of after‑school activities on an as‑needed basis.

Typical Shifts
  • 1:00–3:30 p.m. or 3:30–6:00 p.m.
  • Additional opportunities available on designated teacher workdays.
  • On those days, shifts may range between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain good classroom management
  • Assist other teachers with preparing daily classroom duties
  • Help collect daily attendance
  • Implement the lesson plan and partner with students in arts, crafts and other creative activities (outlined by absent teacher)
  • Implement as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the after‑school program
  • Lead and participate in outdoor and indoor games
  • Walk students to and from various locations on campus
  • Assist and guide students with homework assignments
  • Prepare and serve snacks to students
  • Assist with carpool or bus duty
  • Serve as a positive role model for students
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students, parents, and members of staff
  • Leave a written note to absent teacher summarizing the day and any related student/parent concerns
Qualifications

Previous experience working with school-age children preferred.

Working Conditions and Environment
  • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
  • Frequently talk and hear.
  • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
  • Long or odd hours, as needed.
