Job summary

The Bush School in Seattle, WA, is seeking an Extended Day Program Assistant to support K–8 students in the after-school program. This on-site role assists colleagues, faculty, staff and vendors while contributing to daily student programming.

Responsibilities include supervising activities, leading arts, science, sports and free play, and ensuring a welcoming environment with strong relationships to families. CPR/First Aid certification or readiness is required or obtained soon after hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience supervising school-age children required; 1+ year preferred.
  • Training in education, childhood development or related field preferred.

Job description

Position: Extended Day Program Assistant

Department: Extended Day

Reports To: Extended Day Program Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

On-Site: Yes

Schedule: Academic Year (10-Month) Schedule (Start Date: August 20, 2026)

The Extended Day Program Assistant will support the school’s after-school program, serving K-8th grade students, while also supporting colleagues, faculty, staff, and outside vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise activities for grades K-5, and occasionally grades 6-8
  • Lead after-school activities including inside art and science, outside sports and free play, and gym activities
  • Create an inclusive environment by being open and welcoming, building strong relationships with students and families, and helping students resolve differences
  • Prepare for student snack service
  • Collaborate with the Extended Day Program team regarding student programming, daily preparations, and vendor oversight
Experience and Professional Competencies
  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Experience supervising school-age children is required, with one or more years preferred
  • Training in education, childhood development or a related field is preferred

Additional Requirements
  • Current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or obtain soon after hire)
  • Meet the school’s standards for two separate background screenings
Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly Rate: $31.10 per hour
