Job summary

Wonders Early Learning + Extended Day seeks a part-time Extended Day Aide to support before- and after-school care for school-age children at John Francis – 2425 N Street NW, Washington, DC 20037. You will foster an inclusive, safe, and engaging environment in a collaborative team and deliver hands-on activities aligned to Wonders programs.

The role emphasizes individualized student support, planning with the Program Director, and maintaining open communication with families.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience with children in educational, recreational, or camp setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; BA/AA preferred.
• Coursework in child development and curriculum planning required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, individualized support and guidance for children.
• Plan with Program Director to implement activities and support strategies.
• Maintain open communication with Program Director, families, and team.
• Stay active and involved in program activities and spaces.
• Establish partnerships with families and maintain communication.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate behavior and positive guidance.
• Participate in special events for children and families.
• Attend minimum 12 hours of staff training yearly.
• Work extended hours on winter, spring breaks and early release days.
• Abide by Wonders policies and staff handbook.
• Other duties as assigned.
