West Valley Christian School seeks an Extended Care Teacher to nurture young learners in a Christ-centered environment. This role offers morning and afternoon hours, with duties including planning activities, helping with homework, ensuring safety, serving snacks, and engaging with families.

Qualifications

• A committed follower of Jesus Christ, aligning with WVCS’s mission and Statement of Faith.
• Faithfully attends and supports a local church whose beliefs align with the school’s statement of faith.
• Must be available Monday – Friday; 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Background in education and/or college course in recreation, education or child development (completed or in progress) preferred but not required.
• Child care work experience is preferred but not required.
• Maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Passionate about Christian education and developing students academically, spiritually, and socially.
• Must have and maintain a valid Level One IVP fingerprint card.

West Valley Christian School (WVCS) seeks a passionate and dedicated Extended Care Teacher to nurture and guide young learners in a Christ-centered environment. This position is ideal for someone who is looking to work a few hours in the morning, afternoon, and is creative, child oriented, responsible, and dedicated. They are responsible for planning activities, helping with homework, ensuring safety of all students in the program, serving after school snacks, interacting with students and their families, working independently as well as with a team, and creating an enriching, fun, and safe environment. The candidate must have a positive attitude and serve as a role model to students in the program.

Role and Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership

• Introduce young children to God’s love and Jesus Christ in an age-appropriate way.
• Create a nurturing, Christ-centered environment that fosters spiritual development.
• Support the spiritual formation of students by modeling Christian character and encouraging faith-based discussions.

Classroom Management & Student Engagement

• Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children in Extended Care by providing careful and concentrated supervision of the children’s activities such as homework, arts and crafts, recreation, and outside play.
• No student may be left unsupervised at any time. Enforces policies and procedures that guide the day-to-day operation of the Extended Care Program.
• Administers first aid to children when necessary.
• Maintains confidentiality with parents and children.
• Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment.
• Supervises children in cleaning the general area. Cleans sink, tables and countertops daily.

Professional Responsibilities

• Uphold WVCS’s mission and values while demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.
• Participate in school meetings, professional development, and training opportunities.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines regarding confidentiality and student privacy.
• Follow all safety protocols, including emergency drills and campus security procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
• Support the school’s development efforts through participation in fundraising and outreach events.

Additional Duties

• Participate in the end-of-year classroom closing process, including inventory and organization.
• Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by the Elementary Principal or Director.

Physical Requirements

• Able to remain stationary (sitting or standing) 50% of the time.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• At times, requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs.
• Use hands, fingers, and arms to reach, grip, and maneuver objects.
• Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms).
• Work in noisy and crowded school environments.
