Job summary

West Valley Christian School seeks an Extended Care Teacher to nurture young learners in a Christ-centered environment. This role offers morning and afternoon hours, with duties including planning activities, helping with homework, ensuring safety, serving snacks, and engaging with families.

The ideal candidate is creative, child-oriented, responsible, and dedicated to modeling faith-based values while supporting students academically, spiritually, and socially in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

• A committed follower of Jesus Christ, aligning with WVCS’s mission and Statement of Faith.
• Faithfully attends and supports a local church whose beliefs align with the school’s statement of faith.
• Must be available Monday – Friday; 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Background in education and/or college course in recreation, education or child development (completed or in progress) preferred but not required.
• Child care work experience is preferred but not required.
• Maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• Passionate about Christian education and developing students academically, spiritually, and socially.
• Must have and maintain a valid Level One IVP fingerprint card.

Responsibilities

• Introduce young children to God’s love in an age-appropriate way.
• Create a nurturing, Christ-centered environment for spiritual development.
• Supervise safety and well-being of children during homework, arts, crafts, and play.
• Administer first aid when necessary and maintain confidentiality with parents.
• Keep a clean, safe, and organized environment; assist with cleaning duties.
