Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Extended Care Aide for St. Gerard Majella Catholic School to provide a safe, structured after-school program that supports students’ social development and positive behavior in a Catholic school setting.

You will supervise and engage children, plan age-appropriate activities, assist with homework, and communicate with families and staff while upholding school values and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with children in a school, daycare, or similar setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to supervise and engage groups of children effectively.
• Dependable, responsible, and flexible.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during before- and after-school care in a safe and organized setting.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, including games, homework time, and quiet activities.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
• Monitor student behavior and address issues in accordance with school policies.
• Assist students with homework and provide academic support when needed.
• Ensure proper check-in/check-out procedures and student accountability.
• Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the extended care space.
