The role features plan-driven activity therapy, patient-centered assessments, and hands-on sessions to support treatment goals, including leisure skills and social development. Requires relevant degree and healthcare recreation experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served required.
• Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or equivalent certification/licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and implement activity therapy programs as part of the patient’s treatment plan.
• Complete activity assessments through observation and interviews to tailor plans.
• Direct and implement activities to progress treatment goals.
• Lead and facilitate sessions including leisure skills, education, and awareness.
• Instruct patients in activities such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques.
• Develop treatment plans and interventions aligned with patient needs and interests.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities and community outings.
• Help patients learn social skills to become independent and adapt activities for groups.
• Maintain a professional, empathetic attitude and address patient concerns.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field

Master’s degree preferred
