Job summary

Truman Medical Centers is seeking an Expressive Therapist for weekend days in the Inpatient Behavioral Health unit. The role administers recreation, music, art, drama, and movement therapies to support patients’ well‑being and builds individualized treatment plans.

Responsibilities include leading sessions, documenting progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team while supervising interns and volunteers. Certification in relevant therapies is required within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college program in Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, or Dance and Movement Therapy.
• Current certification or registry in one of the expressive therapies, or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• For Inpatient Therapists, obtain/maintain RQI and CBMT certifications within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized expressive therapy plans based on physician referrals.
• Plan and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions using expressive modalities.
• Document patient progress and modify interventions as needed.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and team meetings.
• Supervise interns, assistants, and volunteers; maintain professional certifications.
