Job summary

Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA is seeking an Expressive Therapist to provide art, music or recreation therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on helping patients express feelings through creative work and participate in planned therapies.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or Recreation Therapy and relevant certifications as applicable, with professional adherence to hospital policies and collaboration with clinicians.

Qualifications

• BLS/Basic Cardiac Life Support required within 30 days of start
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention required within 30 days of start
• Bachelor’s Degree in Art Therapy, Music Therapy, or Recreation Therapy – REQUIRED
• Certification MT-BC, ATR-BC, or CTRS may be required at hire

Responsibilities

• Complete activity therapy assessments
• Provide group and individual expressive therapy sessions appropriate to client needs
• Display professionalism in dealing with customers, staff and clinicians
• Complete assignments in a timely manner
• Complete documentation in a timely manner
• Follow all hospital policies and procedures
• Attend and participate in monthly activity therapy staff meetings
• Attend and participate in weekly clinical supervision
• Work with the interdisciplinary team in meeting treatment goals
• May perform other duties as assigned
