Job summary

The Marcus Institute for Brain Health at University of Coloradoortunately delivers a trauma-informed, interdisciplinary approach to behavioral health care, focusing on Expressive Arts Therapy for mild to moderate brain injury and co-occurring conditions. The role blends individual and group art therapy with education, assessment, and treatment planning within a collaborative care model.

The position is full-time and onsite in Aurora, CO, with opportunities to contribute to program development

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Clinical Psychology and licensure as required.
• Colorado license (or eligible) and ATR/ATR-BC credentials.
• Formal Expressive Arts Therapy training with supervised experience.
• Experience collaborating in interdisciplinary care teams.
• Trauma-focused clinical experience with veterans/first responders is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial health and behavior assessments for patients.
• Communicate assessment results to the team and patient in a professional, culturally competent manner.
• Work with the team to implement and adjust treatment plans.
• Provide individual education and trauma-informed behavioral health treatment.
• Develop and conduct Art Therapy in an IOP setting to promote expression and mastery.
• Create adjunctive art therapy assessments and sessions as needed.
• Educate individuals, groups, and families on sleep, mood, anxiety, and brain health.
• Foster patient relationships to enable preventative interventions and timely documentation.

Education

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Clinical Psychology

Colorado professional license (or eligibility to obtain)

Licensed as a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) or ATR-BC

Minimum 2 years of direct clinical experience with trauma-exposed populations

Formal training and supervised clinical experience in Expressive Arts Therapy

Experience working within an interdisciplinary care team

Minimum 3 years of direct clinical experience with trauma-exposed populations
