Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Logistics Specialist for the North Chicago, IL area. The role focuses on day-to-day international exporting for the Diagnostics division, coordinating with freight forwarders, handling AES filings, and ensuring regulatory compliance across modes of transport.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least four years in logistics or supply chain, with hazmat certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• Minimum 4 years of related work experience, preferably in logistics or supply chain management.
• Must have dangerous goods certification or be willing to become hazmat certified for the Lake County facility.

Responsibilities

• Create export documentation in accordance with US Customs and CCTC regulations for ADD shipments moving out from Lake County Distribution Center and third-party locations.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders to obtain booking details and ensure proper documentation.
• Ensure AES filings and compliance for different shipment modes (Air, Truck, Ocean).
• Manage shipment activity by country, route, and carrier capacity, meeting customer expectations.
• Ensure Dangerous Goods paperwork accompanies applicable shipments and escalate non-compliance.
• Generate necessary international paperwork for outbound shipments and pre-alerts; manage order until delivery.
• Collaborate with customs, distribution, shipping, logistics, planning, operations, and quality teams.
