Job description

We are seeking an experienced Export and Import Control Officer to oversee and manage trade compliance activities, ensuring adherence to applicable export and import laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to support compliant international business operations, mitigate regulatory risks, and maintain effective trade compliance processes.

Position Responsibilities
Export and Import Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable export control, import, customs, and international trade regulations.
  • Review and monitor export and import transactions to identify potential compliance risks.
  • Interpret and apply relevant trade regulations to business activities and transactions.
  • Support the development and implementation of effective trade compliance policies and procedures.
Licensing and Regulatory Requirements
  • Determine licensing requirements for controlled products, technology, software, and technical data.
  • Coordinate and manage export and import license applications, authorizations, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of licenses, approvals, classifications, and compliance activities.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business operations.
Product Classification and Documentation
  • Support the classification of products, technology, and materials under applicable export control regulations.
  • Review shipping and customs documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain records related to product classifications, country-of-origin requirements, and trade transactions.
  • Assist with restricted party screening and other required due diligence activities.
Compliance Monitoring and Risk Management
  • Conduct compliance reviews and assessments to identify potential areas of risk.
  • Investigate potential compliance concerns and support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist in internal and external audits related to export and import compliance.
  • Develop recommendations to strengthen internal controls and improve compliance processes.
Training and Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on export and import compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Legal, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Sales, and other internal teams to support compliant business activities.
  • Serve as a resource for questions related to international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance and awareness throughout the organization.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Law, or a related field preferred.
  • Several years of experience in export controls, import compliance, customs, international trade, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable export and import regulations and trade compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing export classifications, licensing requirements, and compliance documentation.
  • Familiarity with restricted party screening and trade compliance due diligence.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and communicate requirements clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Certified Export Specialist (CES).
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS).
  • Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP).
  • Other relevant certifications in export controls, customs, or international trade compliance.
