Job summary

Primrose School of Fishers Parkside is seeking an Explorer Teacher for after-school care for children aged 5 to 10. The role focuses on leadership, character development and design thinking through a flexible, student-led curriculum. Shifts run Monday to Friday, typically from 2:00 p.m.

to 6:00 p.m., with options to adjust hours for full-time benefits. Responsibilities include supervising a classroom, implementing the Balanced Learning curriculum, and fostering curiosity and confidence in each

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Previous teaching in a licensed early childhood program preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of children.

Responsibilities

• Overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.
• Observes health, safety and care regulations per local and national guidelines.
• Implements approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule.
• Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages creation and exploration.
• Provides verbal recognition and clear expectations for children's behavior.
• Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties in classroom and play areas.
• Assists in other capacities as needed by the Director or designee.

As an After School Teacher, which we call an Explorer Teacher at Primrose School of Fishers Parkside, you’ll help care for little ones aged 5 to 10 who are enrolled in our after school program. You’ll implement a fun and flexible curriculum with student-led projects that focus on leadership, character development and design thinking. This position is Monday through Friday. Shifts are flexible, but generally begin at 2:00 p.m. and end at 6 p.m. The Explorer after-school day is 2:30-6:00, but we can shift position start earlier if desired to be full time. (full time for benefits would be 11:30-6:00) No nights, No weekends!

Primary Responsibilities:

Is responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.

Observes all rules and regulations at Primrose School at Gray Eagle and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.

Implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum and programming.

Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.

Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.

Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.

Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the Primrose School at Gray Eagle Employee Handbook.

Assists in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines is necessary.

Desired skills and experience:

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age

Must pass a background check and drug screen

Previous teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferred, but not required

Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of children
