Job summary

Coeur Wharf, a leading open-pit gold operation in South Dakota, is seeking an Exploration Drill Supervisor to lead drilling activities, ensure safety compliance, and manage costs in collaboration with the Exploration team.

The role requires extensive experience in surface RC and core drilling, building strong relationships with drilling contractors, and coordinating with site operations for efficient, high-quality sample collection.

Qualifications

• Follow all procedures and safety measures to ensure safe production.
• Work in all conditions and environments.
• Able to lift 25 lbs. on a continuous basis.
• Able to walk up and down slopes and uneven ground daily.
• Must have valid drivers license.
• Site-based role with 8/6 rotation, 10-hour days.

Responsibilities

• Be a safety and environmental leader, trainer, and champion.
• Work with corporate Drilling Manager to align with company’s policies and procedures.
• Maintain relationships with drilling companies, conduct regular meetings as required.
• Host program kick-off meeting(s) to ensure alignment with exploration expectations.
• Scheduling pad construction, restoration, and related logistics with drilling contractors and site teams.
• Manage materials and consumables.
• Drill cost tracking and management to ensure funds are used effectively.
• Ensure proper management of drilling operations by optimizing assets and supervising contractors.
• Know and understand best drilling practices; troubleshoot to maintain high-quality sample recovery with drill additives, bits, and pumping rates.
• Liaise with operations to build good working relationships and ensure drill sequencing aligns with operation plans.
• Understand drill mechanics and develop best practices with geologists for site-specific units.
• Assist with RFP process and contracting with corporate Exploration team.
• Non-drill time: update contracts with improvements; prepare for next campaign; assist with core shack improvements and sample storage.
