Job summary

Xylem is seeking an Expert Field Service Technician to perform field service activities at customer sites in the Los Angeles area, handling advanced mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems. You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, manage parts inventory, and interface with customers to ensure safety and high-quality service.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of technical experience, ability to obtain required clearances, and a proven track record of working with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 5–7 years of technical work experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.) and DOT Medical card.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a safe working environment at customer sites.
• Perform field service on advanced mechanical, electrical, and diesel systems.
• Troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and manage parts inventory.
• Interact with customers and escalate issues as needed.
• Lead/coach junior technicians and work with teams.

Job Summary

The Expert Field Service Technician will be responsible for initiating and executing field service activities at customer sites in a safe and efficient manner. This role works with more advanced and multi/complex systems, proactively troubleshoots systems, works with mechanical, electrical, diesel equipment conditions, conducts preventative maintenance and parts inventory, and anticipates and corrects safety issues (both Company and Customer owned equipment). Has direct interfacing with customer and may be responsible for work in multiple systems/locations/customers. This role is responsible for the escalation and leveraging appropriate company resources to address issues, both with personnel and customers.

Education & Experience Requirements

• HS diploma or equivalent

• Technical military background
• Tech Cert, Degree or industry specific license(s)

Experience Requirements

• Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)
• Ability to obtain DOT Medical card
• Clean driving record
• Work experience preferred
• 5 to 7 years of technical work experience

Skill Requirements

• Electrical, mechanical, diesel, fusion experience depending on business unit
• Work without direct supervision and provides coaching/training to junior-level technicians
• Technically sound
• Experience with Microsoft Office including smart devices
• Must have customer service experience
• Demonstrates critical thinking and troubleshooting ability
• Synthesizes technical information and communicates it clearly
• Derives insight from customer experience to produce outcomes and solve problems often in novel and unexpected ways
