Job summary

Benchmark Utility Services is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely perform excavation and earthmoving tasks for utility construction and sitework. You will operate medium to large excavators to dig trenches, move materials, set structures and pipes, and prepare sites for installation.

The role requires at least 3 years of experience with excavation equipment, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work as part of a crew in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating excavation or heavy construction equipment.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to tow small trailers preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a crew environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, loaders, and related earthmoving equipment for trenching and backfill.
• Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance.
• Adhere to trench safety, shoring, and barricading standards.
• Support site tasks and assist with pipe installation as needed.
• Document equipment use and fuel logs.
