The Equipment Operator will safely perform excavation and earthmoving tasks using excavators, coordinating with the crew to ensure precision and productivity while following all safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating excavation or heavy construction equipment.
• Ability to perform precision excavation near utilities and structures.
• Knowledge of trench safety, shoring, and excavation best practices.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; towing ability a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork; able to follow instructions in a crew.
• Able to perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on equipment.
• Physically capable of outdoor work in varying weather and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, loaders and related earthmoving equipment for trenching and backfill.
• Perform excavation near live utilities with safety and Miss Utility guidelines.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections and basic maintenance.
• Follow trench safety, shoring, barricading standards at all times.
• Assist with trench preparation, pipe installation and site cleanup.
• Communicate with spotters and crew using hand signals and radios.
• Load, unload, and position materials safely with proper rigging.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and document equipment use.
• Support general labor and site tasks as assigned.
