Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation is seeking a Welder to join our fabrication team. The role involves welding metal components using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment, following blueprints and production plans, and maintaining safe working conditions.

You will lay out, align, and secure parts, inspect work for defects, and work with various alloys including aluminum and stainless steel. A high school diploma and welding experience are required, with emphasis on precision and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 3-5 years in an advanced Fabricator/Assembler role with sheet metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Proficient in sheet metal blueprint reading, basic shop math, and use of precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Independently operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits.
• Layout, position, align, and secure parts using straightedges, squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Inspect workpieces for defects and measure to specifications.
• Operate hand and power tools common to welding; select torches, tips, filler rods, and flux.
• Weld with aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys.
• Clamp, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to achieve required configurations.
• Follow production instructions and coordinate with Engineering/Design teams.
