Job summary

Westside Animal Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our high-volume, closely integrated team. The role requires 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience, plus skills in anesthesia monitoring, IV catheter placement, dental work, radiology and cytology support.

We offer a 4/10 schedule, some Saturday coverage, and a collaborative environment with strong client communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with small animals, birds, and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species
• Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital
• Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Dental procedure experience (scaling & polishing)
• IV catheter placement and blood draws
• Anesthesia monitoring and surgical care including intubation and post-operative care
• Laboratory skills including cytology setup and interpretation
• Diagnostic experience including radiology and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a hospital setting
• Handle and restrain animals with care across species
• Monitor anesthesia during procedures and post-operative care
• Place IV catheters and collect blood samples
• Perform dental cleanings (scaling and polishing)
• Operate and interpret basic radiology and ultrasound findings
• Maintain organized records and communicate with clients
• Assure overall patient and client care quality under supervision

Job description

Westside Animal Hospital is a long-standing small animal hospital with deep ties to the community, located in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado. With 7 doctors, we are a high-volume, highly efficient team that works seamlessly together. With a deeply loyal clientele, this hospital is always busy and utilizes all associates to the highest level of their skills.

We are currently looking to hire an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Westside Animal Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Salary: $19-$22/hr, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.

Schedule: 4/10, some Saturday coverage required.

Hospital is open Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 6 pm, Saturday 8 am - 3 pm.

Who You Are:

• 3 + years of veterinary clinical experience, as a Veterinary Assistant

• And all other duties of a Veterinary Assistant as allowable by law
