High Desert Animal Care Hospital in Palmdale, CA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant. We value teamwork and compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

Duties include restraint, triage, lab work, radiographs, nursing care, med administration, surgical prep and anesthesia monitoring, with ongoing training opportunities.

Starting pay is $18–$22 per hour, plus benefits such as paid time off, education allowances, and referral bonuses.

Qualifications

• 2+ years veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate and calm team player with strong communication skills.
• Proficient in restraining pets and multi-tasking.
• Experience with sample collection, medical histories, lab tests, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring required.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples; perform radiographs and imaging.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized cases; administer medications.
• Assist in surgeries; monitor anesthesia and ensure client communication.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re Looking For:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 2-years experiencepreferred.
• Compassionate and calm team-player.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are required!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Pay Range:Starting at $18 - 22/hr. based on experience level
