Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a seasoned Line Clearance Trimmer to support Akron, OH and nearby towns such as Tallmadge and Ravenna. You will prune and remove trees carefully for major electric utilities, climb using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS, and work with a ground crew.

Full-time hourly position with benefits on Day 1; compensation depends on experience and qualifications, and a commitment to safety and customer service is rewarded.

Qualifications

• Must enjoy outdoor work.
• Must complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Must complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Requires valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: CDL-A or CDL-B with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Preferred: prior line clearance or related tree work experience.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA/TCIA certifications.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning and removal for major electric utilities, ensuring safety and skill.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged limbs.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs, and objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with ground staff and foreperson.

Position Overview

Davey Utility Line Clearance, is pleased to offer a key opportunity as an experienced Line Clearance Trimmer, joining our team servicing the Akron, Ohio and surrounding areas such as Tallmadge, and Ravenna.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson
