Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking an experienced Line Clearance Trimmer to join our utility team serving Akron, Tallmadge, and Ravenna. You will climb, prune, and remove trees for electric utilities, working with a ground crew and foreperson in on-site settings.

The role requires outdoor stamina, valid license, and training on hire; CDL is preferred and pesticide licenses may be required by state law. We offer comprehensive benefits and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work required with physical activity and climbing.
• Must complete Davey Tree Orientation and safety trainings on hire.
• CDL preferred; pesticide licenses may be required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Perform tree pruning and removal for major electric utilities in Akron and surrounding areas.
• Climb using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS systems and work with ground crew.
• Maintain and operate chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts safely.
• Identify trees and apply pruning guidelines in field conditions.
• Collaborate with foreperson and crew to complete tasks efficiently.

Position Overview

Davey Utility Line Clearance, is pleased to offer a key opportunity as an experienced Line Clearance Trimmer, joining our team servicing the Akron, Ohio and surrounding areas such as Tallmadge, and Ravenna.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
