Job summary

ITT Micro-Mode in El Cajon, CA is seeking a Swiss Screw Setup Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. This role covers setup and operation of Tsugami and Star CNC machines to produce small, high-precision components for business-critical applications.

The ideal candidate brings 5–7 years of CNC experience, especially with Swiss-style machines, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage setups independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• 5–7 years CNC machining experience with Swiss-style machines.
• Experience with Citizen, Nakamura, Star or Tsugami equipment.
• Able to read blueprints and GD&T accurately.
• Strong problem-solving and independent setup capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Swiss-style CNC machines (Tsugami/Star) to produce precision parts.
• Interpret blueprints and CAD/setup sheets to ensure part conformity.
• Select tooling, fixtures, and offsets for each job.
• Perform first-article inspections and adjust processes for quality.
• Monitor operations and adjust to maintain efficiency and tolerances.
• Troubleshoot setup and machining issues independently.
• Document procedures for repeatability and training.
• Collaborate with programmers, engineers and quality staff to optimize machining.
• Maintain a clean, safe 5S work environment.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report issues.
• Mentor junior machinists and operators.
• Support Lean, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
