Job summary

SKI NY-SKIPA EXPO - Ski Areas of New York, Inc. at Windham Mountain is seeking snowmaking staff for the winter season. This in-person role requires 2+ years of verifiable snowmaking experience and pays $26–$30 per hour. Anticipated start dates are November 15th or December 1st, weather dependent.

Weekend and holiday availability is required. Shifts are 12 hours, including night and day, with outdoor work on snowy terrain in all winter conditions.

Work Location: Windham, NY (In-Person)

Seasonal Position: This role is available for the winter season.

Potential year-round positions may be available after successfully completing the winter season.

Pay: $26 to $30/hour (2+ years' experience required)

Anticipated Start Dates: Available start dates are November 15th or December 1st.

Scheduling Expectations: Weekend and holiday availability is required. Snowmaking is dependent on weather and temperature conditions and operates 24 hours a day when conditions are favorable. This requires team members to maintain a flexible schedule and be available to work as needed. These are 12 hr. shifts, a night shift and a day shift. Full Time and Part Time positions available.

Conditions: Must be comfortable working at heights, overnight, and in extreme winter conditions. This physically demanding role requires working outdoors on steep, snowy terrain in all weather conditions.

Transportation: Must be able to get to and from work consistently and reliably in challenging weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, monitor, and maintain snowmaking equipment and systems.
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Monitor snow quality and adjust equipment as needed.
• Troubleshoot and perform basic equipment repairs.
• Safely operate vehicles and equipment.
• Support team and mountain operations as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 20 years old.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years verifiable experience.
• Experience or education in construction, mechanical, electrical, heavy equipment, or related fields preferred.
• Able and willing to follow all directions from experienced snowmakers team members.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk and work safely on steep, snowy, and icy terrain.
• Ability to work extended hours outdoors in all winter weather conditions and shifts.
• Ability to bend, kneel, squat, push, pull, and reach frequently.
