Job summary

Qualifications

• Three years minimum Marine Structural or Outfitting Journeyman (1st Class) experience.
• Knowledge of blueprints and drawings.
• Prior experience as a shipfitter is preferred, capable of operating a cutting torch and tack welding.

Responsibilities

• Surface preparation of structural metal components.
• Layout and fabrication of metal structural parts within the hull for riveting and welding.
• Working from blueprints or templates to lay out positions of parts on metal.
• Locate and mark reference lines.
• Position parts in hull with assistance from a helper.
• Align parts using jacks, come-a-longs, turnbuckles, clips, wedges and mauls.
• Mark hole locations and install temporary fasteners for welding or riveting.
