Job summary

Wastequip is seeking a Service Technician 2 in Valley, AL to inspect, diagnose, repair, test, and maintain refuse collection vehicles and related equipment. Expect work on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems with limited supervision.

The role involves troubleshooting, using service manuals and diagnostic tools, and completing accurate work orders. The position offers competitive hourly pay and benefits supporting technician growth.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, technical training, or equivalent experience preferred.
2–4 years of relevant mechanical, heavy-duty truck, equipment, hydraulic, electrical, or refuse-equipment experience, depending on demonstrated competency.
Experience on heavy-duty trucks or industrial equipment preferred.
Refuse-industry experience preferred.
Reading service manuals, schematics, and using diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on refuse collection vehicles and related equipment.
Perform component removal, replacement, adjustment, and installation.
Repair and maintain chassis-related components.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and identify potential equipment failures.
Diagnose hydraulic system failures and repair cylinders, pumps, valves, and hoses.
Diagnose electrical problems using testing equipment and multimeters.
Perform functional testing after repairs.
Maintain complete and accurate work-order information.
