The Service Technician is a skilled professional responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing all types of automotive problems. You'll be the heart of the service department, using your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure vehicles are running smoothly and safely.

Responsibilities
  1. Diagnosis and Repair:
  2. Analyze customer concerns and symptoms to identify the root cause of vehicle malfunctions.
  3. Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems (scanners, multimeters, pressure gauges, etc.).
  4. Conduct thorough inspections of various vehicle systems (engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, etc.).
  5. Prepare repair plans outlining necessary repairs and estimated costs, obtaining customer authorization before proceeding.
  6. Repair and replace faulty components following service manuals and manufacturer specifications.
  7. Test repairs to ensure functionality and safety.
  8. Document all repairs and parts used on service orders.
  9. Customer Service:
  10. Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner, explaining technical issues in an understandable way.
  11. Provide accurate estimates and timelines for repairs.
  12. Keep customers updated on service progress and address any concerns promptly.
  13. Technical Skills and Knowledge:
  14. Possess a strong understanding of automotive systems, including their operation, diagnosis, and repair.
  15. Stay up to date on new technologies and repair procedures through training and certifications.
  16. Perform a wide range of repairs, from basic maintenance to complex engine or transmission overhauls (depending on experience).
  17. Proficient in using various diagnostic tools and automotive repair equipment.
  18. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols.
  19. Additional Responsibilities:
  20. May perform test drives to evaluate vehicle performance and diagnose issues.
  21. May research technical information and consult with colleagues or service manuals to solve complex problems.
  22. May recommend preventative maintenance services to customers.
  23. Contribute to a positive and efficient work environment within the service department.
Qualifications
  1. Demonstrating a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
  2. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Service Technician or related automotive repair experience (some dealerships may accept less experience with relevant training and certifications).
  3. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  4. Completion of an automotive technician training program or equivalent experience.
  5. Possession of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications is a strong plus (specific certifications may vary depending on dealership).
  6. Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
  7. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  8. Manual dexterity and the ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, reaching).
  9. Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers.
  10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications a plus.
