Job summary

Bank of Bartlett is seeking a diligent Mortgage/Loan Underwriter to assess loan requests, spread financial statements, and ensure compliance with banking regulations. Responsibilities include drafting loan documents, coordinating with attorneys and title companies, and communicating policy changes to Retail staff.

The role requires 5–8 years of related experience, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent certifications, and strong analytical and interpersonal skills to support accurate lending

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of similar or related experience
• Bachelor's degree or industry certifications or both as equivalent to a degree
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to analyze financial statements and assess credit risk
• Knowledge of consumer lending laws and bank regulations

Responsibilities

• Decide loans timely within bank guidelines and recommend decisions on requests outside authority
• Draft and proof loan documents and agreements
• Spread and analyze financial statements to determine borrower capacity
• Conduct credit investigations and obtain credit bureau reports
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies and procedures
• Maintain relationships with Retail staff and Business Banking teams
• Complete all assigned training and report backlogs or issues
• Train lenders on policy and procedure changes and assist with audits
