Qualifications

• Must have BLS certification.
• Must hold ACLS certification.
• Must hold PALS certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
• Minimum five years' experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safe and effective administration of prescribed medications.
• Follows indications/contraindications, policies and procedures for therapeutic modalities including HHN and lung expansion therapy.
• Sets up and monitors oxygen.
• Sets up oxygen cylinders and ensures proper usage and safety measures.
• Performs arterial punctures using radial and brachial sites; draws arterial blood gas samples.
• Performs all aspects of artificial airway care, including deep blind tracheal suctioning.
• Responsible for administration of all types of mechanical ventilation including BiPAP and CPAP.
• Familiar with oxygen delivery systems (nasal, Venturi mask).
• Familiar with devices to measure pulse oximeter, respirometer, ETCO2.
• Set up, safety check, monitoring and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators.
• Maintains accurate and legible records; documents clinical notes in EMR and complete patient charges documentation.
