Job summary

Methodist McKinney Hospital in McKinney, TX is seeking a qualified Respiratory Therapist to join our acute care team. You will administer prescribed meds, manage ventilation, set up oxygen and suctioning, and document patient care in the EMR with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualified candidates maintain BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications and hold RRT credentials; a minimum of five years in an acute care setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
• Must maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care required.
• Minimum five years in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications.
• Knows and follows indications and contraindications, policy and procedures for therapeutic modalities.
• Sets up and monitors oxygen and oxygen cylinders; ensures proper usage and safety.
• Performs arterial punctures using radial and brachial sites; draws arterial lines for blood gas samples.
• Performs all aspects of artificial airway care; able to perform deep blind tracheal suctioning.
• Administers mechanical ventilation including BiPAP and CPAP.
• Familiar with oxygen delivery systems and measurement devices (pulse oximeter, respirometer, ETCO2).
• Responsible for setup, safety checks, monitoring, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators.
• Maintains accurate and legible records, EMR entries, and complete patient charge documentation.
