Job summary

SMS group Valparaiso workshop seeks an experienced millwright to refurbish and repair blast furnace equipment. You will learn our specialized machinery and grow with a stable, long-established company.

Work is full-time with a standard day shift; pay is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical/dental coverage, vacation, holidays, 401K matching, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in refurbishment/reconditioning in a job shop or similar.
• Experience disassembling and assembling mechanical parts.
• Ability to read prints and drawings; strong tool usage.
• Overhead crane and hoisting/rigging experience preferred.
• Education: Vocational or High School; on-the-job training valued.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical duties on equipment as instructed.
• Disassemble, repair/recondition, assemble and test equipment.
• Fabricate lightweight apparatus/structures for maintenance.
• Interface with project management and engineers to complete projects.
• Maintain housekeeping and provide extra support as needed.
