Job summary

Miller's Home Comfort in Callao, VA is hiring an Experienced HVAC Technician to install, maintain, and repair residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

You will diagnose issues, perform routine inspections and tune-ups, complete service calls, document work clearly, and explain findings to customers while ensuring safe, code‑compliant work. You will travel locally, keep tools and vehicles in order, and collaborate with dispatchers and other technicians.

Qualifications

• Residential and light commercial HVAC installation, service, and repair experience.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot common system issues.
• Knowledge of HVAC components, refrigerants, electrical controls, and air distribution.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, manuals, and work orders; prepare service reports.
• Strong customer service and on-site professionalism; explain findings clearly.
• Understanding of safety standards, local codes, and safe handling of electrical systems.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to multiple job sites.
• Physical ability to lift and move equipment; work in varied environments.
• EPA Section 608 certification strongly preferred; other HVAC certs are a plus.
• Experience in HVAC service role and completion of accredited HVAC training program or apprenticeship.

Role Description

The Experienced HVAC Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Callao, VA. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and related components. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing system issues, performing routine inspections and tune-ups, completing service calls, and documenting work performed in a clear and accurate manner. The technician will interact directly with customers, explain findings and recommendations, and ensure safe, code-compliant work at all times. The role also includes driving to local jobsites, maintaining tools and company vehicles, and collaborating with dispatchers, sales staff, and other technicians to deliver efficient service.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in residential and/or light commercial HVAC installation, service, and repair, with the ability to independently troubleshoot common system issues.
• Knowledge of HVAC components, refrigerants, electrical controls, air distribution, and combustion systems, including safe handling and diagnostic practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and work orders, and to complete accurate service reports.
• Strong customer service skills, including clear communication, professionalism on-site, and the ability to explain technical information in everyday terms.
• Understanding of safety standards, local codes, and best practices for working with electrical systems, ladders, confined spaces, and pressurized equipment.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, with the ability to travel locally to multiple job locations during the workday.
• Physical ability to lift and move equipment, work in various indoor and outdoor environments, and perform tasks that may require bending, kneeling, or climbing.
• EPA Section 608 certification strongly preferred; additional HVAC certifications or trade licenses are a plus.
• Prior experience in an HVAC service role and completion of an accredited HVAC training program, apprenticeship, or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing schedules and customer needs.
