Job Description: CDL Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator

Scotty's Contracting and Stone is seeking a highly experienced CDL Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Heavy Civil Division. The position involves operating commercial vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites, as well as performing various labor tasks to support site operations. The role requires knowledge of and the ability to operate large construction equipment, including Loaders, Backhoes, Track Hoes, Haul Trucks, and Water Trucks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
2. Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.
3. Follow directions from crew leaders for assignments and duties.
4. Perform minor maintenance and refer major issues to supervisors.
5. Report hazards or issues at the site promptly.
6. Maintain positive relationships with co-workers and support a collaborative environment.
7. Complete required documentation accurately.
8. Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
9. Perform physical tasks necessary for site maintenance.

Qualifications:

• Must have a CDL.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to protocols.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to climb into and out of equipment over 10 feet high.
• Work safely at heights exceeding 10 feet.
• Maintain balance on uneven surfaces.
• Corrected vision of 20/40.
• Ability to hear safety instructions.
• Perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted, 100 lbs. with help.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

Work Environment:

Primarily outdoors, exposed to noise, dust, and machinery, requiring physical stamina and adaptability to changing conditions. Safety gear is mandatory at all times.
