Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc. is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service fire alarm systems at customer sites.

The role includes panel reprogramming, device replacement, low‑voltage troubleshooting, testing, and networked focus. The candidate should have 5+ years of Fire Alarm experience, read blueprints, and be able to perform physical labor up to 70 lbs while maintaining a strong safety and customer‑service mindset.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of documented Fire Alarm experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience reading/interpreting blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
• Proficiency with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
• Ability to perform physical labor up to 50–70 lbs and use ladders/lifts.
• Flexible schedule including weekends; strong customer service and teamwork.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; pass background and drug test.
• Obtain licenses under National, State, Local codes (as needed).

Job Summary

Program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service Fire Alarm Systems and related building system products at customer sites. This includes panel reprogramming, device replacement/repair, low‑voltage circuit troubleshooting, system testing, and networked fire alarm focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform programming on fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
• Respond to customer service calls promptly, troubleshoot and repair as needed.
• Participate in after‑hours service program.
• Communicate with Project Manager on work order status and outstanding customer issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/programs, schematics, and operational/product manuals.
• Supervise and inspect installation of equipment to meet customer and contract specifications.
• Complete necessary certification courses on internal and external products used.
• Submit all required documentation (task, activity, productivity) in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• At least five (5) years documented Fire Alarm experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience reading/interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
• Proficiency with hand tools, test equipment, multi‑meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
• Capability to perform physical labor, including carrying/moving equipment and tools up to 50–70 lbs, and use of ladders and lifts.
• Flexible work schedule, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
• High level of customer service, team collaboration, and adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and rapid learning ability.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Pass pre‑employment background and drug test.
• Obtain and retain any required licenses under National, State, and Local codes.
• Basic understanding of Network concepts and architectures.
• Preferred:
  • Two‑year Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Network, Computer Science, or related field.
  • NICET Level II certification or ability to obtain it within the first year.
  • OSHA 10 Certified.
  • Experience with Access Control, CCTV, and Security Systems.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate: $29.00–$40.38 (determined by education, experience, and market data). Competitive benefits package is included.
