Day-to-day, you’ll be part of a team that performs preventative maintenance and repairs, big and small, on a variety of “big rigs,” including trucks, trailers, refrigeration transportation, and more. In addition, you will maintain the reliability of our customers' vehicles to ensure safe road operation.

You are in a lead role as an Experienced Diesel Mechanic at Big Rig Fixer. You are experienced, respected, and trusted by others. You are expected to work independently while assisting others with repairs, diagnosis, and maintenance. You set an example for the shop and help where needed. This role leverages your mechanical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs. You’ll collaborate with the team to complete repairs and maintenance efficiently. We also ensure you have sufficient time to do the job right. Responsibilities

  • Inspect and run diagnostics on trucks, diesel engines, transmissions, and more to identify issues
  • Troubleshoot client complaints and resolve them promptly
  • Perform repairs to ensure maximum reliability and performance during commercial operation
  • Conduct maintenance and analysis on trucks, trailers, transport refrigeration, and other heavy equipment systems
  • Replace worn-out and broken parts
  • Clean and lubricate moving parts
  • Replenish fluids and consumables
  • Advise clients on proper maintenance and preventative measures
  • Explain the benefits of scheduled maintenance to clients, customers, and drivers
  • Undertake additional duties as needed (e.g., grinding, welding, cleaning)
  • Keep track of all issues, parts, labor, and time using our shop management software (Fullbay)
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations during tasks

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of Diesel Mechanic related experience
  • Strong knowledge of machinery repair, shop practices, welding, electrical systems, and diagnostics
  • Excellent understanding of trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, hydraulic, electrical systems, and components
  • Experience with tools such as welding equipment, diagnostic tools, hand and power tools
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good physical strength and stamina
  • Punctual and reliable attendance
  • Any relevant certifications, diplomas, or apprenticeships are highly valued
  • A valid Commercial Driver’s License is preferred
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
