Job summary

ALFFCo is seeking an Estimator to join the Operations team. The role focuses on cost estimation for construction projects from concept to completion, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Proficiency with estimating software and strong communication are essential.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience in commercial/industrial estimating and a background in construction materials, methods, and codes. Collaboration with the team and stakeholders is key to success.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of estimating commercial or industrial construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and codes.
• Experience with public and private construction bidding processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze project plans, specifications and other documentation to determine project requirements.
• Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project conditions.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to create accurate and comprehensive estimates.
• Analyze and compare competitive bids from subcontractors.
• Prepare and submit competitive bids.
• Ensure bids are accurate and comply with project requirements.
• Maintain organized records of estimating documents.
• Collaborate with construction team and stakeholders.
• Provide value engineering suggestions.
• Maintain and update cost information databases.
• Track and analyze cost trends.
