Job description

Job Title: Commercial Construction Foreman / Lead Carpenter

Perform skilled and physical labor at commercial building construction projects. Responsibilities include completing layouts, coordinating labor and materials, and overseeing other trade workers. The foreman is responsible for setting up jobs, managing daily and overall production, supervising onsite employees, maintaining a safe and clean worksite in coordination with subcontractors, vendors, and the superintendent. May assist other craft and trade workers.

Essential Functions:

  1. Coordinate and oversee daily tasks and supervise construction crews
  2. Manage construction drawing layouts and specifications
  3. Travel to and from work sites, run work-related errands
  4. Possess knowledge of commercial/heavy construction practices, tools, and materials
  5. Maintain a clean and safe job site, secure tools and equipment
  6. Handle materials, load/unload, haul, and hoist as needed
  7. Follow safety procedures and report incidents

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in use of tools, equipment, and materials used in construction
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and first aid
  • Ability to follow instructions and lead activities
  • Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs, stand/walk for long periods, perform strenuous labor
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Dependable attendance

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Combination of education and experience demonstrating capability
  • Willingness to perform skilled/manual work following instructions
  • Knowledge of safety regulations

Work Context:

  • Work near moving mechanical parts, outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, climb, and work in physically demanding conditions
  • Flexibility to travel and stay out of town as needed
  • Wear safety gear, including respirators if required

Special Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
