Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist to join our outdoor team in Toledo, OH. The role focuses on trimming and removing trees, diagnosing tree health, and ensuring safety for clients and crew.

As part of a leading greenspace stewardship team, you will work with various climbing systems and equipment, with opportunities for advancement and ongoing safety training.

Qualifications

• Interest in outdoor work and safety-first approach.
• Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete orientation and safety trainings upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Trim and remove trees and limbs to improve health and safety.
• Climb trees using approved systems (DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS).
• Operate tools safely, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader to complete pruning and removal tasks.

What You’ll Do

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

What We’re Seeking

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
