Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Chicago, IL is seeking a climbing arborist to trim and remove trees and to improve tree health and public safety. You will be responsible for pruning, removal, and installing cables, bracing and lightning protection, while maintaining equipment and working with a crew on site.

Starting pay is $30 per hour, with benefits and opportunities for advancement throughout a nationwide network of locations.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree orientation program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred licenses/certificates if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb Trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Act as an active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:
