Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join its outdoor team in a full-time capacity. You’ll perform pruning, removal, and health-improving treatments for trees on client sites, using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems, with strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Office is outdoors; opportunities for advancement exist within a large employee-owned company that values training, safety, and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide licenses and certificates, if required by state law

Responsibilities

• Climb trees as part of pruning and removal work with safety
• Work with crew leader and ground crew as an active team member
• Perform pruning, thinning and removal of deadwood in the canopy
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
• Remove hazardous trees and maintain/operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts)

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
