Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in San Diego, CA is seeking a climbing arborist to trim, prune, and remove trees while focusing on safety and client satisfaction.

You will use DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems and work with a crew to deliver high-quality tree care.

Qualifications

• Must enjoy outdoor work and outdoor environments.
• Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or heights work preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Orientation and safety courses on hire.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform pruning, removal, and related tree-care services safely.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment including chainsaws and lifts.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader to complete jobs.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
  • Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
