Job description

Position

VCA Brookline Animal is seeking an experienced client service representative to join our six‑doctor general medicine practice located in the heart of Brookline, a mile from downtown Boston. The successful candidate will believe in high‑quality veterinary medicine, patient care, and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

• Greeting visitors, answering phones, and guiding clients and their pets to exam rooms.
• Scheduling and confirming appointments.
• Placing outbound calls for follow‑ups and reaching out to prospective clients.
• Presenting and explaining fees, processing payments.
• Answering questions about products and services, including educating clients on general animal husbandry and non‑medical pet care (e.g., heartworm prevention, house‑breaking, flea & tick control).
• Managing medical records, charts, reports, and correspondence.
• Triaging phone calls and directing them appropriately.
• Understanding and entering vaccine information into the system.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of veterinary client service; at least 2 years of experience in the veterinary field.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with clients.
• Intermediate to expert computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Self‑starter and team player with the ability to integrate new information into problem‑solving.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and to work in an environment with potential hazards associated with pets (allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, animal waste).
• Compassion for pets and people, with awareness of others’ reactions.
• Scheduling flexibility to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation & Benefits

Wage: $21.00–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience.Benefits include medical/dental/vision coverage, paid vacation and sick days (for full‑time employees), a 401(k) plan, and generous pet‑care discounts.
